Departures

I had heard so much about the new downtown hotspot (Departures, in the Nines Hotel), I was excited to finally go check it out myself last night with my lady friends. It was unreal. I felt like I was in NYC or Vegas (I've never even been to Vegas, but I still got that feeling).

It was oozing cool, modern design, with an airliner inspiration. They managed to have an airplane theme without being cheesy. It included sexy flight attendant-inspired uniforms for the staff, which they wore well.


Natch this setting made me think of an airport themed bachelorette party from a few short years ago for my bff who met her man in Midway Airport...

JG, when you renew your vows I have just the place to take you to celebrate!

Happy Earth Day

The House Committee on Environment and Water voted for HB2676 (a.k.a., the Butt Bill)yesterday and it now moves to the full House for a vote. Stay tuned!

Who's Up for Zoo Bombing With Me?

Have you ever noticed this cluster of random bikes across from Powell's? Have you ever wondered what they are all about? They are all part of the Zoobomb!

Now that I have a bike, I really want to do this one week. Anyone interested? Let's do it this summer....who is in?

According to the official Zoobomb site, the ride starts every Sunday around 8:30, because Zoobombers do it in the dark.

Wise

O got his wisdom teeth yanked on Friday. Today these flowers were delivered to the house.

From his oral surgeon. Wow. We were very impressed. If you live in PDX and need to get your teeth yanked, go to this guy. Don't just go for the flowers...the surgery was smooth and the recovery has been easy (no pain, no swelling....).

O and I both have had other types of surgery in this past year...and in both cases we struggled to even get in touch with our doctors after the procedure...there was zero personalized follow up. Those docs (and all docs) should take notes from this wise dentist.

Daydreaming...

O's hometown, like many ski towns, is full of old AFrame houses. Today I saw this post...and it got me daydreaming about buying up an old AFrame and updating it to look like this one.

O's mom is in the real estate biz and his dad is in the construction biz...and they both read my blog....maybe we could (win the lotto and then) make this happen some day?

Boston Marathon Day

Just like last year, I am thinking about Boston today. I am hoping that Kara Goucher wins it! She is a Portland gal...and it would be amazing to see an American (esp a Portland girl) win the marathon!

Baby's First Hair Cut!

So we had this bet...and the winner got to give WKF his first haircut...O won.

We couldn't wait any longer to give this babe a snip, it has been covering his eyes for months now. So today was the day. O had good technique...sprayed it...

Good hand/scissor positioning...O has a look of focus...and W has a look of complete trust...
