Fast Food Done Right

I love Burgerville. After a late night mission to Home Depot last night (the remodel continues.....) O and I treated ourselves to a strawberry shake. Wow, so so so good. I don't go often, but each time I do go I remember how good Burgerville really is.

Burgerville is a local chain (there are 39 in Oregon and Washington). Burgers are made with love from pastured vegetarian-fed and antibiotic-free beef. The menu changes with the seasons (get your strawberry milkshakes now...they are not always available)!. There is hazelnut milkshake season, walla walla onion ring season, sweet potato fry season, yukon gold french fry season, blackberry milkshake season, strawberry milkshake season....

Burgerville purchases wind power credits equal to 100 percent of their electricity use, recycles used canola oil into biodiesel, and offers its hourly employees an affordable $15-a-month health-care plan. They are working towards an ambitious goal to be recycling and/or composting 85% of all waste by 2008. Burgerville was the first restaurant to use eggs from cage free chickens.

Their mission statement - "Serve with Love". Their motto - "Fresh. Local. Sustainable."

Since transforming their biz plan to align all parts of the biz to their green and sustainable values they have experienced double-digit same store sales increases in 2006 and 2007. Seems like sustainably is good business.

None of these impressive Burgerville factoids would matter if their food was not amazing. Go to Burgerville. You will not be disappointed.

I hear their salads, salmon, and veggie burgers are all fab....but I can't imagine getting anything other than the Tilamook Cheese Burger.
